Five Holy Grails: Makeup

My greatest nightmare would be the no-makeup makeup look. LJ once said that if he could do my makeup, he’d do that Glossier look on me – tamed brows, tinted moisturiser and a hint of mascara. “Gotta just do a bit of Chapstick, honey”

Stuff of nightmares.

That being said, Hypebae predicted that maximalism will be in for 2018’s fashion and I want that to apply to makeup. So I’ve come up with my five holy grails for makeup, five things that will NEVER leave my makeup bag and that I’ll constantly restock on. Read on for the list,

A nude lip
Liquid liner
A glowy foundation
Cry-proof eyelash glue
A multipurpose eyeshadow palette
Nude Lip

I don’t know about you, but I recently gave up my dark vampy lipsticks for neutrals and nudes. My current favourite is Belle from Nudestix but I also like Kat Von D’s Lolita and Stila’s Patina.

Liquid Liner

I will be buried in my signature cat eye, thank you. I’ve been using Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner in Intense Black, and it has proved to be a godsend to me. The price is a bit steep, but one pen lasts me four months with constant usage. A less pricey alternative is the Clio Kill Black Pen Liner, but that’s ip to you.

Glowy Foundation

I used to be a flat matte finish kinda girl, but now as I’ve gotten older – I’ve hopped on that glow from within look. I cycle through a couple: Laura Mercier’s Smooth Finish Flawless Finish Fluide, Fenty Beauty’s Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation but my current everyday is NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Punjab. I like the finish, the colour match is fantastic (I hardly buy drugstore foundations because I can’t find my olive undertone that easy) and it’s easy to apply. You don’t even need that much.

Eyelash Glue

6/10 times you see me, I’m wearing falsies. This is the glue I swear by, Koji Eyelash Fix STRONG TYPE. It’ll last through anything: sleeping (don’t do that, it’s bad for your face), ugly crying and sweat. Great for Malaysian weather and sad girls.

Multipurpose Eyeshadow Palette

Okay, bear with me. I don’t like carting four different palettes with me but I hate only being limited to a series of shades. I got my hands on the GlamX Beauty Bourgeoisie Palette and I’ve been able to create a number of different looks with that one palette. That being said, I can use the lighter shades as highlighter. Of course, you could also pick up one of the Urban Decay Naked palettes, or maybe something like the NYX palettes.

Psst. I’ve got a promo code from GlamX for you: use GLAMXHANNAH at checkout for 10% off your total order and free shipping (if you’re out of peninsular Malaysia). Let me know if you use it!
